Hands-on data expertise, without the agency overhead.
Root Cause Analysis Ltd is an independent consultancy. When you engage me, you work directly with the person designing and building your solution.
Hello, I'm Ed.
I'm a data consultant who builds the platforms and reporting organisations rely on to make decisions: from the SQL and pipelines underneath to the Power BI dashboards on top.
Over my career I've worked across the full data lifecycle: integrating messy source systems, designing dimensional data warehouses, building automated pipelines in SQL Server and Azure, and delivering Power BI solutions used every day by leadership teams and frontline staff alike.
I founded Root Cause Analysis Ltd because I believe good analytics starts with understanding the underlying problem, not just visualising the symptoms. I'd rather spend an extra day getting the data model right than ship a dashboard nobody trusts. That approach means clients end up with solutions that are accurate, fast, and maintainable by their own teams.
I've worked extensively in the education sector, building attendance, assessment and pupil progress analytics for schools and multi-academy trusts. That work is now delivered through RSIC, while Root Cause Analysis focuses on data platform and BI work across all sectors.
